Outdoor Entertainment Spaces
San Diego landscapes can be used year-around, making exceptional patio spaces essential to the creation of the design. Patio spaces need shade so they can be enjoyed on a summer day, or heat for use at night. They become secondary kitchens and living rooms. Add all together and it is easy to relate to the coinage ‘Outdoor Room’. Two, three, or more patio spaces around the home are often necessary. The creation of patio space is an essential element of a landscape design. The custom cedar bench is supported by two bordering veneer stone planters. Irregular stone paving creates a geometric design off the main patio area of this modern home.

A small backyard got larger when a retaining wall was installed, making room for a raised spa, firepit with veneer wall, and surrouding planter beds. The patio surface is travertine laid in a Versailles pattern.

This sturdy overhead structure and patio as though they belong on this hilltop four hundred feet above the valley floor. The homeowner enjoys paragliding from this ridge top home.

A raised deck was engineered with a spiral staircase leading to the lower patio area. Walkways encircle the backyard to allow the children to safely ride bicycles.

This total landscape makeover satisfied the homeowner’s wish to entertain large groups in a small space. Pieces of decorative glass and stone were inbedded into the concrete patio.
